Union Avoidance Team

The HR Group's Union Avoidance Team has experienced consultants who can help your organization remain union-free. We offer a variety of services, and training that can assist you in a specific area or that can be incorporated into a comprehensive union avoidance program.

Labor Relations Audit
Our consultant meets with your management personnel to review policies, procedures and company philosophy. Based on information gathered, we can determine which policies and practices may be causing vulnerability to an organizing effort and make concrete recommendations for correcting these problem areas.

Employee Opinion Surveys
Worker satisfaction plays an important role in whether or not employees would accept union representation. The HR Group can create a customized Employee Opinion Survey that allows employees to anonymously rate areas such as policies, pay and benefits, supervisory effectiveness, organizational culture, working conditions, and more. All responses are compiled, analyzed and reported to the employer along with recommendations for improving employee job satisfaction.

Union Avoidance Training
Our consultants can come to your location to provide specialized training on your rights and restrictions as an employer regarding union organizing efforts. You will gain the information needed to detect the signs that an organizing attempt is on the horizon, as well as specific strategies for improving employee morale and increasing company loyalty.

Leadership Training
Untrained leaders who lack the supervisory skills necessary to effectively lead and motivate employees can cause dissatisfaction among work groups, causing the company to be more susceptible to unions. We offer an Effective Leadership course, which emphasizes leadership training and uses the Performance Indicator for personal feedback on several leadership competencies and on personal management styles. Other objectives of the program include determining levels of discipline, communicating disciplinary action, motivating employees, and in-depth skills practice in handling commonly occurring supervisory problems.
